Accessibility

Everyone should be able to find, read about, and order our pasta. Here is what we do to make that possible, and how to tell us when we fall short.

Our commitment

Durante’s Pasta is a small family business, and we want our website to work for every customer, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification, or other assistive technology. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, and we keep working on it as the site changes.

What we’ve built in

  • Descriptive text for meaningful images, and decorative images hidden from screen readers.
  • A “Skip to main content” link, a logical heading structure, and labelled navigation and form fields.
  • Full keyboard support with a clearly visible focus outline.
  • Large tap targets for phones and tablets.
  • Animation that switches off automatically when your device is set to reduce motion.

Accessibility options on every page

Select the green Accessibility options button (the figure icon) in the bottom-left corner of any page to adjust the site to suit you. Your choices are remembered on this device as you move between pages.

  • Text size – make page text larger.
  • High contrast – darker text and stronger colours.
  • Highlight links – underline and outline every link.
  • Readable font – replace decorative script lettering with plain type.
  • Text spacing – add room between lines, words and letters.
  • Stop motion – pause animation and the scrolling customer reviews.

These options are an extra convenience. They work alongside, not instead of, the settings in your own browser, device, and assistive technology, and you can press Reset all at any time to return to the standard design.

Known limitations

Some content comes from other services, such as embedded maps and videos, and our downloadable product catalogue is a PDF. We can’t fully control how accessible these are. If any of them is difficult for you to use, contact us and we’ll give you the same information another way.
